What about smoothing?

Postby x10der » Mon Jul 23, 2012 5:27 am

Hi!
I like this engine, it's light and simple. I started my project using Axel.
But it seems that I can't set smoothing for loaded textures now. Do you plan to add support for texture smoothing in future?

Hi,
Yeah I love it to. Finding it great for remaking an old game I was working on.

To enable smooth textures just edit the sprites shader to

Code: Select all
"tex ft0, v1, fs0 <2d,linear,mipnone>",
"mul ft0, ft0, fc0",
"add ft0, ft0, fc1",
"mov oc, ft0"

I actually create a few different sharers and assign them based on requirements for each sprite. I have one for linear, one for nearest, and then a simplified one without coloring, and an advanced one that applied a color transformation matrix to each pixel. But if all you want everything smooth just change the 'nearest' to 'linear'.

Also, I disabled the position rounding to a nearest pixel as well (but I've forgotten where that was).

it seems you have to edit the vertex shader for this as well, since by default axel doesn't reference v1?
